Bryan Drugs Inc. opened in January of 1972 in downtown Tarboro by Dean Bryan and Albert Clay. It was known as Clay Drugs for the first seven years until Bryan purchased the remaining shares from his partner, Albert in 1979. This same location was operated in previous years as a Walgreen Agency by the Mobley family and was known as Tarboro Drug Company. Bryan’s has operated and continues to do so as an independently owned community pharmacy. We have been a member of NC Mutual Wholesaler for 41+ years. The goal of providing the best healthcare options for our customers has guided the evolution of Bryan Drugs from a community drugstore to a modern pharmacy with two locations.
We have successfully offered a combination of programs and services that has exceeded the needs and expectations of our customers.
In December 1976, Bryan’s purchased Moore’s Pharmacy in downtown Tarboro and merged it into their operation at 421 N. Main Street. Moore’s Pharmacy was operated for many years by the Moore family, first by M.A. Moore Sr. and at the time of purchase it was being operated by Mrs. Dixie Moore (wife of M.A. Moore Sr.) and their son M.A. Moore Jr.
In December 1986, Bryan’s purchased Tarboro Pharmacy which was located behind Tarboro Clinic. Tarboro Pharmacy was previously owned by William D. Moore and was known as Edgecombe Drug Company. Mr. Moore operated this independent pharmacy for a long number of years. Once purchased, this location was closed and reopened in January of 1987 inside the Tarboro Clinic as Bryan Clinic Pharmacy. The pharmacy has operated continuously there since opening. In June of 2013, they moved to their new building located at 112 Hospital Drive, where they will continue to provide their original services with some added extras
